Ines Berger, Michaela Dittrichová and Lea Martanova

As the athletes are arriving Örebro to do the last preparations for Tiomila, this round of runner presentations has come to an end. The last three (but not least) runners presented are all juniors and have high ambitions for 2022.

 Michaela Ines Lea

Ines Berger

For those who do not know you, who are you (short presentation)?

I’m Inès Berger, an orienteer from Neuchâtel, a town in the French-speaking part of Switzerland. I come from a sport family; my brother and I have always spent a lot of time out in the nature!

I love lakes, pine trees and sunsets. But many other things too, such as running, skiing, painting, reading or discovering new cultures :-)
I am currently at the end of my high school years and plan to study law at University.

Why have you chosen to run for Halden Skiklubb?

Because I came there with my family in 2017 to train and I fell in love with the terrains. Since then it has been my “dream” to come training in Halden and run for the club.

How long have you been an active o-runner, and how were you introduced to (and interested in) orienteering?

I started seriously when I was 10 years old, so it’s been 8 years of orienteering practice. I got into it as my father was himself an elite runner for Switzerland (and later for Nydalens SK and victory at Jukola with Bækkelaget!), so I always knew he orienteered but I wasn’t really interested until a friend from running and I decided it would be fun to begin.

Greatest achievements in the o-course so far, and what is your best orienteering memory?

  • Winning Swiss Championships (LD, SP, Night, RE, MD)
  • 3rd relay, 5th sprint EYOC 2019
  • 3rd total O-Ringen 2018, won 1 stage at O-Ringen 2019
  • 14th sprint JWOC 2021

I can’t think of one memory… orienteering is just too diverse! If I had to pick one specific it would be all the training camps. Always in great company and in amazing terrains, it represents all the “work” behind important races but also how much fun this work is.

What are your ambitions for 2022?

I’d like to be fit and healthy. And this should allow me to want a podium at Swiss championships, top 10 at JWOC and top 8 at JEC. Moreover a good overall result at O-Ringen.

Some quick facts:

  • Sprint or forest? Depends, both!
  • Night or day? Night
  • TioMila or Jukola? Jukola
  • Relay or individual? Relay
  • Flat or hilly? Flat
  • Tights or nylon?? Tights

Michaela Dittrichová

Michaela2 300For those who don't know you, who are you (short presentation)?

My name is Michaela Dittrichová and I am from the Czech Republic, where I am a member of the Czech junior team. I am currently studying at university at faculty of civil engineering. In my free time I don't do anything special and I like to travel and meet new places and people.

Why did you decide to run for Halden Skiklubb?

I was looking for a Scandinavian club and some people recommended Halden to me, so I decided to run for Halden.

How long have you been an active o-runner and how did you get into orienteering (and attracted you)?

I've been running orienteering since I was a child, because my parents got me to do it, and they do it too. So I can say I've been doing it my whole life. Although I had a year when I wanted to finish, but I enjoy it a lot now.

So far the biggest successes in the o-course and what is your best memory of orienteering?

Third place in relays from JWOC and results from Czech championships.

I don't even know what my best memory is. I like to remember all the events and camps with the orienteering because of the great people and getting to know new places.

What are your ambitions for 2022?

I would like to be nominated for JWOC and run to be satisfied. Or run Tiomila, which I've never been before.

A few quick facts:

  • Sprint or forest? forest
  • Night or day? day
  • TioMila or Jukola? TioMila
  • Relay or individual? individual
  • Flat or hilly? hilly
  • Tights or nylon? tights
